Looking for a writing circle in the North Durham region?
Writing doesn’t have to be a solitary act! Learn from seasoned writing circle expert Dorothea Helms, and the WCDR President and long-standing writing circle participant, Sally Moore, how a writing circle works and what it can do for your writing. The WCDR has booked two meet-and-greet nights at Blue Heron Books in Uxbridge for regional writers to engage in discussion, share their writing, and get to know one another in a comfortable and safe environment with fellow writers.
When: Tuesday, March 31 and Tuesday, April 7
Time: 7 pm to 9 pm
Where: Blue Heron Books, 62 Brock Street W, Uxbridge
Cost: $5 per night (register now and pay at the door)
On the first night, Dorothea and Sally will discuss what a writing circle is, the ideal number of people to work with, and how to optimize your time. Then volunteers will be chosen at random to read two pages of their writing to the group, and receive feedback in a discussion lead by facilitators.
On the second night, Dorothea and Sally will discuss how to organize a writing circle, and run some exercises on working together in small groups. Afterwards, a discussion on organizing ongoing independent writing circles will be conducted, with a view to participants forming a writing circle of their own.
