Bio: One starts a career seeking to conquer the world. Madhav Kochunni was no different, wanting to be a know-it-all. The wonderful journey, rich with eyeopening learning experiences, changed his perspective radically. He now strives to be a student of all things useful!
What facet of Madhav’s career does he feel has been highly significant? Creating and managing interactive digital content, and what made this most interesting was the journey from journalism and publishing in the pre-digital age, to publishing for tablets and smart phones—with stops along the way in advertising, marketing, analytics, business analysis, graphic and web design, and journalism.
Madhav’s rollercoaster career ride began in Mumbai, India. The first part of this journey took him through the fascinating world of publishing, instilling in him the finer aspects of writing, editing, proofing, print production, and interviewing. Seven years later, he embarked on the second leg of his career, into advertising. Besides enjoying the duties of a copywriter, creative lead, and client services representative for nine years, he learned graphic design and gained experience in pre-print production.
In 1999, he moved to Toronto—a move which coincided with the third and most exciting leg of his career. The learning bug had taken up permanent residence in Madhav’s mind, and Madhav tackled the internet, teaching himself web design and development while being mindful of constantly changing trends. He raised his own standards intuitively and is well versed in the latest web and interactive technologies.
Madhav is now ready for fresh challenges. Apart from trying to write, Madhav is riding the corporate trend of storytelling. He hopes to combine his skills and experience to craft stories and pitch them to anyone willing to read or listen!
