Sometimes we show and sometimes we tell – the art is in ‘when?’ Learn: -when to show and when to tell. -techniques for bringing backstory forward. -techniques for presenting history without turning your story into a history lesson. -to show who your characters are (don’t tell). -how to bring forward your character’s emotions through: narrative, dialogue and associative thinking.

Writing Good Scenes

Each scene is a mini short-story. Learn: -the three components of a good scene. -the three types of changes a scene must bring. -when a scene is finished -how scenes move a story forward

About Donna Morrissey

Donna has written six nationally bestselling novels. She has received awards in Canada, the U.S., and England. Her novel Sylvanus Now was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize, and she was nominated for a Gemini for best writing for the film Clothesline Patch.
